A UK born artist working and residing in Victoria, Canada. After a long and happy career in palliative nursing and research, I finally arrived at art education at the age of 48. I hold a BSc (Hons) in Nursing, a Masters degree in Law and received a Certificate of Fine Arts in 2018.

An avid photographer from an early age, I began drawing to capture my experience of homelessness and poverty when without a camera in later life. As a late starter to creative practice, I was anxious to learn the techniques of art through formal education but also to dive into my own creative practice immediately.

My drive is the emotional happiness and balance gained from the exploration of brutal personal truths and uncomfortable realities which the creative process affords me. Past work has embraced conceptual ideas through the use of live food substances as primary mediums to explore my own dysfunctional relationship with food.

Whilst drawn to societal issues such as addiction, aging and homelessness as subject matter, I also enjoy a very soothing relationship with micro detailed gouache and ink pieces which help me to fully escape into meditative creativity when necessary.
